SchoolPRO offers a Total Solution for schools interested in using the web as a TOOL, not just a Presence. With the Information Age pressing onward, it is critical for schools to communicate with the Students, Parents, Community, and Faculty about Information, Events, Policies, and Procedures.
SchoolPRO allows a school to effectively operate and control their Automated Web-Site without the task of learning HTML, FTP, and/or Programming and still have the ability to change the Look and Feel of the school's web-site (either with Faculty or Students/Classes).
Key Features
Administration : An Up-To-Date listing of the Schools' Administrators and their Contact Information and Responsibilities.
Alumni : A Fully Automated, By Year Alumni page which allows users to add their names to the Alumni Listing as well as view Reunion Information about their class (if loaded). The Reunion Information pages are normally submitted to PII independently from the school. Each user that submits his/her information to the Alumni Site selects their own password. Anti-Profanity guards are also set up to protect the site from misuse and to adhere to FCC regulations.
Clubs : An area for Students and/or Faculty members to post Clubs Information for the school. This is a Build-Your-Own area for those who wish to use HTML, FTP, and Programming skills to create and modify the pages. Access Privileges must be given to the designated persons.
Course Offerings : A listing of current Classes for the school. The Course Offerings can be displayed in a variety of ways, from individual Classes to the Entire Curriculum.
Faculty Web Pages : Each faculty member gets their own personal web page! Faculty Web Pages come at no extra cost - you do not pay per page. The design of the web pages is very simple and no HTML knowledge is needed. The program is simple point and click.
Faculty : A Searchable Listing of Faculty members (either by Name or by Department). The listing provides the Contact Information, Room Numbers, and a Faculty Files button to direct the user to a particular faculty member's Schedule & Files. The faculty member can add their Schedule to the site with out any programming or HTML. They can also Post Files and/or Information to each scheduled class or into a general location area.
Home : Automated Weekly Calendar appears on the Home Page for easy view of current events.
Links : An area for Students and/or Faculty members to post relative Link Information for the school. This is a Build-Your-Own area for those who wish to use HTML, FTP, and Programming skills to create and modify the pages. Access Privileges must be give to the designated persons.
Publications : An area for Students and/or Faculty members to post Publication Information for the school. Users can upload Announcements and News Letters. Access Privileges must be given to the designated persons.
School Calendar : A Fully Automated Calendar listing that gives the user the ability to see school events by month and either in List or Table format. The calendar, like most of the other pages on the site, is generated through programs which access the data LIVE from databases.
Sports : A completely automated High School and Middle School sports link (SportsNET houses all of the data for Rosters, Schedules, Team Pictures, Stats, and Scores). Each coach is given a User-ID and Password so that they can logon to the site and update their own team information (no HTML or Programming needed).
Student Life : This area of the web site allows pictures (full-size and thumbnail images) to be posted to the web without the use of FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and in a Hierarchy setup using Categories and Sub-Categories (called Picture Groups).
Surveys : The Surveys button on the Side Navigation directs the user to a listing of Active On-Line Surveys available by the public. The site also includes an area within the Faculty Administration portion of the site for Internal On-Line Surveys. Results of surveys (both Public and Internal) are displayed in a Bar-Graph format within the sites Faculty Administration area.
Capabilities
Customization : We are interested in your input! If you have something that you would like added or changed, we want to know about it. On average, changes are implemented within 48 hours of determining whether or not the modification can be done. Professional Innovations writes all of the code within the entire site. Everything is inclusive to the company, so there is not a time delay caused by waiting for other parties to complete their tasks. Most changes do not incurr additional costs! Our goal is to make the school website better and more user-friendly and not to make it a drain on the school.
E-Mail Addresses : The site comes with 5 E-Mail accounts which can be used to redirect Site-Specific information. Most schools already have E-Mail accounts through either the School or the District. Additional E-Mail accounts can be added at a rate of $5/Account/Month.
Space : The entire site resides on the PII Server and starts out at 20MB of Disk Space. This amount is more than enough space to handle a 3000 student school with supporting faculty. The server also resides outside the School or District Web-Ring to help free up Band-Width (or throughput) on the network. Additional space and subdirectories for groups other sections of the school can be added for an additional charge (space is $2/MB/month normally).
Benefits
The key to an effective website is to provide Up-To-date information in an easily executed format. We also believe that training the entire faculty, or even a group of faculty members, to be Web Masters does not make economical sense. Therefore, PII has designed SchoolPro as Tool in providing the school and the community a resource for information and not a static, slice-in-time look at the school environment.
Training
Our goal is to work with the school through the process of setting up the site and working with the faculty members in SchoolPro's day-to-day operation. We will train the faculty with Live Demonstrations, PC-based Tutorials and References, and 24-7 technical support.
