Alexander Ivashkin, cellist, conductor, writer, festival director, performed in more than 40 countries, including over 50 world premieres. Professor of Music at Goldsmiths, University of London, he has published 18 books on Schnittke, Ives, Penderecki, Rostropovich, and more than 200 articles in Russia, Germany, Italy, the US, the UK and Japan. A recording artist for the Chandos, BMG, Ode, Brilliant Classics and Naxos labels, Ivashkin has recorded 33 CDs, including the complete cello music by Rakhmaninov, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Roslavets, Tcherepnine, Schnittke and Kancheli.
