At the risk of sounding like a cliché I make mention of this most unusual method of sending that the Lord employed for my wife and me. It all started with a dream. It is our earliest recollection of the genesis of this journey in ministry, although we recognize that through His foreknowledge about our lives, God had made the proclamation over us long before we became aware of it. The Lord gave me a dream dating three years ahead of the actual launching out into the deep waters of pastoral ministry. For the entire three years I sought the full interpretation of the dream, but only obtained bits and pieces throughout. As the providence of God moved in our lives, Bishop Brooks sent me on a preaching assignment to South Carolina in his stead.
