Low Country Aircraft Appraisals - Home
If you believe that anyone with a "blue book" or aircraft pricing guide can appraise airplanes, you are mistaken. Appraising airplanes is a specialty that can only be done properly when the appraiser inspects the airplane, evaluates it, researches the logb

Hello and welcome.
What's New
January 2011 - Yup, I skipped December : ) In January, I spent another week in Mexico. One of my favorite places to visit is the huge biosphere reserve called Sian Ka'an. It is an area containing a vast number of species including osprey, several types of egrets and herons, spoonbills, and manatees. Sian Ka'an is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. If you travel to the Mayan Riviera, do yourself a favour and spend some time in this incredible National Park. As I get images processed, they'll find their way into the RECENT WORK folder.
October/November - Ok, time is flying by. It seems like there is something to photograph around here every month of year. Recently a lot of my free time has been spent with bald eagles. This year looks very promising for the majestic birds. If you've never checked out the bald eagle activity in Squamish during December, I'd highly recommend you do so.
September - The rains have arrived. As I sit in my office at home, it's pouring down outside. Yet September was also a good month. Recently I returned from two weeks on the road - the first was spent in Yellowstone and the Grand Teton and the second had me heading up to Bella Coola. The target of both destinations was wildlife and in particular, GRIZZLY BEARS. Both destinations yielded a decent batch of photographs; the Atnarko river near Bella Coola was a mecca for grizzlies. Having been back a couple of days, images are now processed and have been put in the Recent Work folder as usual.
August - Well, the month is almost over. It's hard to believe September is just around the corner. August was fairly productive. Most recently I found a few black bears around the Pemberton area. One of those was a cinnamon black - a first for me. Now if only it would have been a little more cooperative. I am also STILL sorting through Northern Gannet shots from July. So a few more of those have been posted. And it's almost time to give the gannets their own folder.
July - The month isn't quite over yet but July also turned out to be a very productive time of year. I finally made it to Bonaventure Island in Quebec to photograph the Northern Gannets. The weather only cooperated for only a day but I was able to make the most of that day. In addition, I came across a couple of Barred Owl chicks in Vancouver that were seemingly unafraid of humans. Both the gannet and the barred owl shots are still in the Recent Work folder.
June - Back to Washington State for more burrowing owl shots. Some more burrows were now filled with chicks. Had a very productive trip. In addition, more osprey shots were added too.
May - Gesh, time flies. Ok, May was a pretty good month for new images. Found a new spot for osprey shots; hence added quite a few new osprey photographs. Also spent a weekend around Naramata, BC and managed to get a number of marmot shots. Finally, a good friend and fellow photographer by the name of Bob Cook flew in from Calgary. He and I spent a weekend photographing burrowing owls in Washington State. That was an incredible experience. The images from May are currently in the Recent Work folder. Have a look.
April - Reorganized folders into categories for easier navigation. Also added some burrowing owls shots and more Yellowstone photographs into the Recent Work folder.
March - The Olympics and the ParaOlympics have come and gone. What a show! I was fortunate enough to get out to a few events and still have images to process. Quite a few have also been posted in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics folder.
I also spent 4 days in Yellowstone this month. Words do not do the place justice. Shots from there are currently located in the Recent Work folder. And more to come from there too. Eventually all the Yellowstone shots will have their own section.

I have also established a GUESTBOOK. Please be sure to check it out and leave a comment or two.

About My Gear
I exclusively use Canon digital bodies. My lenses are mainly Canon as well although I do have two Tamron lenses. Gear is just that - gear. From time to time I'm asked which manufacturer is better. The answer, of course, is whichever one helps you get the best shot. And that depends not so much on the camera but rather on the person behind it. Consider the work and the equipment of Ansel Adams or Galen Rowell or any of the other great photographers. Get out there and shoot.
About The Files I Have Posted Here
The photographs you find here are examples of what I consider some of my better work. I am still in the process of adding images - so do come back from time to time. If needed, you can reach me here: Bigsquashbuggy[at]yahoo[dot]com
About Photography
Ever wonder why photography seems to be so popular these days. The digital age has certainly inspired many. For me photography is a way to stop time. It's a way to capture a memory or perhaps even a feeling. Some photographs say a little, some say a lot. And perhaps the message doesn't matter some of the time. But when a photograph is done right, when it is done JUST right, it speaks volumes. And that means everything.
