My name is Alan Wieder and I have been taking photographs on the streets, alleys, and of course many other places for over 30 years. The photographs exhibited on this site were taken in the United States and throughout the world. The overwhelming majority of shots are of children in the United States and southern Africa, but there are also pictures from India, France, Holland, Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic, Cambodia, and Viet Nam. Much of the time my photos corresponded to research that I was doing on race and education -- most recently with teachers who fought apartheid in South Africa.
