Asturiaspordescubrir es el lugar común que hemos creado compartir esas experiencias, que de otro modo se quedarían solamente en nuestro recuerdo, y poder seguir mostrándote esos rincones inéditos, como en nuestros libros, a través de una fotografía muy cuidada y unos textos amenos. I have had a life-long relationship with the energy that manifests itself into the arts through people. I understand creativity as a result of living my entire life with it.
In university, I was first trained in the classical academic tradition in which students had to master drawing and design. It was there that I learned the importance of discipline, craft and professionalism. I left that academy with a degree in commercial illustration and drawing. I continued my formal education in art by enrolling at the Art Institute of Chicago where I explored creativity both philosophically and technically.
At the Art Institute, we were encouraged to explore the art making process through any medium possible, including non-traditional and technology-driven methods. I mostly employed printmaking, film, drawing, painting and also writing during my studies there. As an undergrad, I was given the honor of joining their Masters Writing Program and enjoyed making art through the written word. My time at the Art Institute was invaluable because it reinforced my own beliefs in how I think about art and its creation. I studied such a wide range of subjects and learned from such a diverse number of professionals that the simple fact that creativity comes from life and its experiences was illuminated.
I have had the great pleasure of travelling around the world since I was in high-school and during my travels, I learn different ways of thinking and seeing. These experiences and lessons are as important as my time in university. I carry the lessons from both university and travelling with me, and allow them to flow out with creativity which consistently stimulates and produces new ideas. My goal is to help others do the same and also to share my talents with others in order to help their ideas flourish.
