History Established as a group of consultants with special papermaking expertise, Allegheny Consulting Group began in 1992 in Pittsburgh, PA. ACG specialized in the pulping process, stock preparation, and paper machine operations. We conducted problem-solving projects and cost optimization of process chemistry. The marketplace accepted the consulting group concept and the client base grew demonstrating that one vendor could provide special expertise to process problem solutions for the entire papermaking operation. Allegheny Consulting Group expanded in 1996. The group added the additional focus of boiler and cooling water technology. This enables ACG to meet the entire water chemistry needs of a paper mill. As an example, ACG partnered with International Dioxcide, a subsidiary of Dupont to successfully solve plant odor emissions at IKO in Monroe, MI and Reading Paperboard in Sinking Springs, PA. In both cases these plants had operational and chemistry problems manifested as unacceptable product quality and plant emissions.
