Mike Davenport Photography
After receiving his Commercial Photography Degree from Colorado Mountain College, Mike worked freelance and assistant gigs for 2 years before joining the US Air Force as a still photographer. It was in the Air Force that he found his way, honed his skills and grew as a photographer. After winning numerous awards for his work in the military, Mike left the service and moved to Denver.
After living, briefly, the life of a starving artist in Denver, he moved to Chicago and started a career in the steel business. He put his cameras in a drawer, his ambitions on the side and created a life "after photography."
After over 20 years in the metalworking industry, the need for self-expression though the art of photography has again taken hold of his soul.
"Photography has never been a simple vocation or a hobby for me. It has always been a way to express myself and my vision of the world in my own unique way. 20 some years ago, I quit being a photographer, but the art of photography never left me. It lay in a dark corner of my mind and my soul, ready to come out again when the time was right.
The time is right, now.
