Hi there folks, and welcome to Varmint Flats Photos. I’m Merle, the Official Spokes-Possum, and I’d like to tell you a little bit about us. We’re headquartered in the heart of Varmint Flats, Indiana* on the shores of scenic Lake Margaret. Mark (or Ol’ Maynard as I like to call him) is an award winning photographer and shoots the majority of our images, although I do have my own gallery which you can visit by clicking on the link below. He's also a fairly accomplished racecar driver, machinist, attorney, mechanic, inventor and musician (well, he’s a drummer).
Rather than concentrating on a particular area or style of photography, we like to shoot a wide variety of subjects, which we define as anything that happens to catch our fancy wherever we happen to be. Pentax has been our camera of choice since 1965 (Ol’ Maynard still has our original Honeywell H1A 35mm SLR with its 55mm Super Takumar lens) and we currently use K20d and K100d digital bodies with an assortment of Pentax lenses.

Merle tends to be a little full of himself (and a lot full of something else) in his role as the Voice of Varmint Flats. He mostly just hangs around telling bad jokes and making smart-aleck comments, but I put up with it because a good Spokes-Possum is mighty hard to come by these days. As for Merle’s gallery, keep in mind that he is a cartoon possum hanging upside-down from a cartoon tree branch with a cartoon camera; consider yourself duly warned!
