Heroes of the Saturday Matinee
Who can forget those larger than life heroes of the silver screen who coaxed a generation of kids to get off the streets and into theaters --- Captain America, Superman, The Lone Ranger, The Duke, to name a few. They were the heroes of the thrill-a-minute B-movies and serials we all loved. Some of the stars of those marvelous adventures were friends or neighbors of mine when I was growing up. Others I met during my years as a journalist. All my best memories of them are here on the following pages. Nowhere in the pages of history will you find greater champions of family values and childlike fun.
