Lostam BioPharmaceuticals Ltd is a new Israeli start-up company that is developing a novel class of protein therapeutics (“biologics”) aimed to prevent and treat lethal bacterial infections associated primarily with the hospital setting.
There are an estimated nine million hospital-acquired infections annually in the USA that can result in high mortalities, especially in patients with hampered immune systems. Consequently, there is an urgent need to design and develop novel pipelines of anti-bacterial drugs capable of combating serious bacterial infections and of withstanding the “cunning” efforts of bacteria to develop drug- resistant mechanisms.
Lostam BioPharmaceuticals Ltd was founded by Dr. Lewis Neville, an experienced scientific researcher with expertise in various disciplines of biochemistry, pharmacology, molecular biology and animal models of disease. The company operates within the framework of the New Generation Technology (NGT) technology incubator located in Nazareth, approximately 100 km NE of Tel Aviv.
