A versatile player characterized by her warm and present tone, hornist Lis Rubard performs and teaches in New York City. A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, she studied classical horn with Roland Pandolfi and David Brockett, played in the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble under conductor Tim Weiss, and studied chamber music with renowned instrumentalists James DeSano, Richard Hawkins, and Michel DeBost. Her interests in chamber and contemporary music have led her to perform and teach at festivals and clinics in the U.K. , Arkansas, Finland and Panama. In New York, her interest in small ensembles and innovative music has led to jazz horn studies with hornist and composer Mark Taylor. She performs with the composer's federation, PULSE, and with the New York Chamber Players.
