Beverly Hills Records
In 1969, BEVERLY HILLS RECORDS was initially set up as an arm of a motion picture complex in Culver City to be known as Beverly Hills Studios. The complex, formerly Desi Lu Studios, was formed by Martin Leeds, who was head of business affairs for Desi Lu Productions from its onset. He hired music vet, Morris I. Diamond, as head of music.
After a short while, the studio ceased activities when the board of directors decided to use it as a rental instead of utilizing its facilities for producing films and TV shows as originally intended. Diamond was given the Record and Music Publishing companies that had already been in action.
With financing by personal manager, George Durgom; film magnate, Jack Warner; and actor, Telly Savalas, among others, the company was able to carryon its business of signing artists and successfully distributing the product domestically and licensing internationally.
