Katka Adams - Home Page
I follow traditional genres like landscape, portraiture, and still life and combine them to create a narrative. My paintings often tell a story. I love colour and use it to set the mood. I distort traditional perspective to emphasise a feeling. Things are often at odd angles, or seen from a strange perspective, such as from above. Just as a chef uses fresh seasonal produce, I am also inspired by the seasonal events in our area. When the Jacaranda and Silky Oaks are in flower together, I imagine that they are in love and leaning towards one another. In summer I paint Frangipanis and mangoes as they ripen on the trees. I see beauty and feel joy in the simplest of things in life a freshly cut orange or a dog asleep in the sun. I try to capture such moments in my work.
