This website celebrates the life of legendary jazz bassist, and photographer Milt Hinton
(1910-2000). It was conceived and created by David G. Berger & Holly maxson, long-time friends of Milt's and two of his most ardent disciples. Milt became a pillar of the jazz community for the last half-century of a career which spanned more than seventy years. The discography he amassed- often called the most voluminous in jazz and popular music- is rivaled by the more than sixty thousand photographs he took to document his journey. Most importantly, Milt was a true humanitarian who dedicated his life to passing on what he had learned to younger generations. His generosity, his values, and his spirit touched thousands of people around the world. Our goal here is to capture the essence of Milt Hinton's unique life and contributions.
