Traders in the equities, commodities, futures, currencies or forex markets in spot or options need an advanced trading education. Trading systems are the heart of a trading education and trading psychology the soul. The NFA and the CTFC warn investors and traders alike that there is no such thing as a perfect trading strategy and investing in any market should use money you can afford to lose. This is because most traders and investors regularly lose trading capital speculating in the markets. Regulations are developed to protect the unsuspecting, but most are enticed into trading by the lure of easy money. Technical and fundamental analysis are key components of a trading education, but believing in yourself and the system are never present in a packaged program. Past performance is not indicative of future results because markets are always changing and resistance to change is normal human psychology. A statistical backtest may show promising results, but actual statistics show most traders/investors lose money! You absolutely need someone looking over your shoulder to guide you throught the intricate flucuations of price patterns and action because failure to recognize a change in sentiment as it is forming will result in an emotional over-ride of logical decision making and fear will erode your account balance. Emotions are totally normal, but the most over-looked component of a successful trading plan. The only consistent cure for the emotional over-ride everyone will experience is the comfort of a co-pilot, a trainer willing to guide you through your own worst realizations and push you into new conditioning and positive trading habits despite your willingness to crawl back in your hole and give up (the ultimate safety, comfort and survival instinct - get me out of this fearful losing environment!).
