Carol J Patrie, PhD - Author of the Effective Interpreting Series
The Effective Interpreting Series provides information, exercises and accompanying DVD material on intralingual skills (within English or within ASL) and interlingual skills. Taking time to develop intralingual skills, whether you are a new or seasoned interpreter, can ensure a strong foundation for more complex interlingual skills such as translation or interpretation. Three of the volumes (Translation, Consecutive Interpreting and Simultaneous Interpreting) focus on interlingual skills and message transfer. One of the most valuable aspects of the EIS is the strong focus on developing self-analysis skills through using The Five-Step Follow Up. This process guides you through a closer look at your own work and helps you find ways to improve.

Chinese food from India? Definitely! We specialize in Bombay Style Chinese Cuisine. It is unique Chinese cooking that has evolved from years of living in India by the Hakka Chinese people. In the early 1900s, the Hakka Chinese migrated from Canton Province, China, to Kolkata, India, to escape opium warfare and other political issues. It is in India that the Hakka Chinese were introduced to the vibrant tastes of traditional Indian cooking. Through the years, the Hakka Chinese have adopted and embraced a love for eating spicy and aromatic foods. The food is a unique blend that brings together the best of Chinese wok style cooking and fragrant Indian ingredients. Chang's Hot Wok is proud to serve the best in Indian Chinese cuisine.
Our Executive Chef/owner, Peter Chang, is a second-generation Chinese Indian born in Kolkata, India. He grew up and worked in Kolkata and Mumbai (formerly Bombay). In his 20s, he moved to Europe where he developed his culinary skill. His most recent move to the United States brought him to partner with his late brother, Sidney Chang, at Hot Wok Village as the Head Chef. The restaurant had been previously featured locally and mentioned in literature as a source that adeptly displays the global flexibility of Chinese cuisine. After many years of success, a new adventure begins with Chang's Hot Wok...
