Bianca Lundien Kennedy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Houston, going on to become a successful freelance writer, with articles published in national and international magazines and e-zines. Though she has written on a variety of topics, as a young breast cancer survivor and advocate, she frequently writes about breast cancer related topics, both medical and emotional. Her only sibling, a sister three years older, is a four-time breast cancer survivor. Since Bianca’s diagnosis, surgeries, treatments, and recovery in 2001, she has worked in the breast cancer community to disseminate support, empowerment and information to those affected by breast cancer. In doing so, she has been interviewed and quoted in articles appearing in The Chicago Tribune, on WebMD, Revolution Health, WGN, Fox News, Medical News Today, and others, as well as a book and several videos about hot flashes in young breast cancer survivors coping with premature menopause. Most recently, Bianca has taken her breast cancer advocacy directly to Washington DC, becoming a Consumer Peer Reviewer for the Department of Defense for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program. This involves evaluating, critiquing and scoring scientific proposals submitted for review in attempts to obtain Congressional funding. Once her written critiques are finalized, she gives a presentation of her findings before a panel of experts.
Bianca pursues creativity expressed through the disciplines of writing, photography, digital imaging, and graphics. Her chief passion is photography and while she entertains all subjects for her craft, she specializes in photographing cats, both purebred and domestic.
Bianca’s other passions include her husband of 16 years and their four-legged feline family members.
