Welcome to Kumasi Wood Cluster Production and Export Collaboration in Ghana
The Kumasi Wood Cluster (KWC) was established in November 2004 as an association limited by guarantee. It is a non-profit making association that has adopted clustering as the means to bring small and Medium Sized Forest Enterprises (SMFEs) together to jointly address their marketing and resource constraints. The association was meant to spearhead their quest for sustainable management of their forest concessions and to gain market access for their products. KWC is implemeting the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Group Certification Scheme to demonstrate its responsiveness to the social welfare of its workers and that of the forest fringe communities where its members operate. By certifying its forest management KWC is also contributing to ensuring the stability of the environment and ensure that the forest resources are exploited in economicaly viable manner.
