Middle Eastern patterns and the fundamental nature of my cultural background are elemental to my image making. Geometry and patterns form the foundation of my art, and I use centrality and symmetry as organising principles. My work is abstract in a vital sense, echoing real histories while resonating with contemporary significance, universal and personal.Although the traditional patterns I adopt owe much to the past, in the process of my arranging and layering them they begin to vibrate with a physical energy, to speak for themselves, to communicate in ways they could not in their original context.
