He has been playing professionally since high school and signed his first recording contract at age 19 with Rick Jarrad (who produced Nilsson, Jefferson Airplane and Jose Feliciano. In the early 80's Rocky joined the R&B group Champaign which signed with Columbia Records. In 1999 his first book Rhythm & Beauty The Art of Percussion was published by Watson Guptill.
