Research on Infant Sleep and Parenting Advice
Examines the research on recommended infant sleep interventions. Also looks at popular advice and in what ways it is inconsistent with research. Parents are told that the most evidence-based approach to infant sleep involves allowing the infant to cry at bedtime. However, little research has been conducted on infants. As a result, little is known about the intervention. While the intervention may work well for many families, it is unknown how it impacts families and whether or not there are contexts within which it would not be advisable. Site includes pdfs of research and academic papers on the topic.
