Matthias Contzen Sculpture
I would like to introduce my sculptures not as objects which be percieved first time by the observer, but as prompts for a dialogue.
The observer should be given a mystery to solve; his curiosity and imagination will help lead him to a new, and sometimes completely subjective, meaning.
That who gets involved in this dialogue, become part of the creative process, which begins only once the sculpture has been finished.
The titles of the pieces, therefore, allude to only one of the many possible meanings.
As far as I am concerned, it is vital that we have different points of view, if we are to achieve a better understanding of our world
