The Annual Cookie Sale To Combat World Hunger
Eight years ago Jim and Jen Weber wanted to start a project that would motivate their Sunday school class at St. Josephs Parish. They wanted the children to think beyond their own personal lives and to do something tangible to help other people. Their solution was a simple cookie sale that would give all of its proceeds to Cross Internationals Hunger Relief Program. This program is run through Cross International and helps feed starving people in some of the poorest countries. Today that simple cookie sale has become something bigger than they ever anticipated. Members of St. Joseph and other area churches, as well as businesses and community members, have come together over the last seven years to build this cookie sale into one of the largest contributors to the Hunger Relief Program. Last year this sale raised $30,000 to feed 300,000 people in Haiti. The goal this year is to double that!
