ALFOCAN
ALFOCAN S.A., set up in Seville in 1987, is currently the leader in the European market for processing and marketing Procambarus clarkii crayfish. These freshwater crustaceans are caught in the traditional manner in the south of the Iberian peninsula, which, after China and the United States, is the worlds largest fishing and production area. Its centre of production in Isla Mayor has an annual production of over 1,500 tonnes and is endowed with modern technology. Since 2000 the company has been actively participating in various scientific projects (R&D and Innovation), and in 2008 it requested a patent for the conservation of crayfish for packing in a protected atmosphere.
The construction of a plant for manufacturing crayfish meal making use of all non-saleable raw materials was undertaken in 2001. This meal is sold as natural animal feed.
ALFOCAN sells 20% of its products in the domestic market and exports to France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Finland, Switzerland, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Russia, Italy, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and the United States. The products are intended both for large-scale distribution and for hotels, restaurants, catering, delivery services and wholesalers.
The distribution of refrigerated products in the domestic market is done with emphasis on delivery being speedy and in compliance with the clients requests, guaranteeing daily delivery at harvest time. With regard to exports, the company works together with a warehouse in northern France (Steenvoorde), from where it supplies customers all over Europe. In order to guarantee a non-stop supply of frozen products throughout the year, ALFOCAN maintains a stock during the months in which there is no production.

Este crustáceo de agua dulce se pesca de manera artesanal en el sur de la península ibérica, la mayor área de captura y producción mundial, después de China y Estados Unidos. Su centro de producción de Isla Mayor supera las 1.500 toneladas anuales de productos y está dotado de una moderna tecnología. Desde 2000 la empresa colabora activamente en varios proyectos científicos (I D i), depositando en 2008 una solicitud de patente sobre la conservación del cangrejo de río por envasado en atmósfera protectora.
La construcción de una planta de fabricación de harina de cangrejo aprovechando así toda la materia prima no comercializable fue realizada durante el año 2001. Esta harina se comercializa como pienso natural para animales..
ALFOCAN comercializa el 20% de su producción en el mercado nacional y exporta a Francia, Bélgica, Holanda, Alemania, Austria, Finlandia, Suiza, Polonia, Lituania, Bulgaria, Rusia y Estados Unidos. Los productos van destinados tanto a la gran distribución como a la hostelería, restauración, catering, servicio a domicilio y mayoristas..
La distribución de los productos refrigerados en el mercado nacional se hace buscando siempre una entrega rápida y conforme a las exigencias del cliente, garantizándose en campaña una entrega a diario. Para la exportación se colabora con un almacén frigorífico en el norte de Francia (Steenvoorde) desde donde se distribuye a toda Europa. Para garantizar el suministro sin ruptura de sus productos congelados ALFOCAN mantiene un stock durante los meses en que no hay producción.
