Tozai Architecture Interiors designs residential architecture and commercial architecture predominately in the Cincinnati and Indianapolis areas. An architect's life experience adds texture to his work. Charles Ellis has worked as a carpenter, teacher, a visual artist... that gives his work a pragmatic with whimsical contradictions. He grew up in Japan and has studied the martial arts for many years that cants his architecture with an unique perspective.
The Practice
Tozai Architecture Interiors was created in 1990 as a free-lance vehicle by Charles S. Ellis in Indianapolis, Indiana; USA in May of 2000. A move was made to a retail/ office building in Cincinnati, Ohio; USA in August of 2004. A move again was made to consolidate operations. The clients of Tozai Architecture Interiors are predominately in the greater Cincinnati, OH and Indianapolis, IN and surrounding areas and places in between. Architectural building type experience include:
Residential Architecture: single family; new custom homes, additions & remodeling and multifamily.
Commercial Architecture: office building, office space planning, banking institutions, health care space planning, medical offices, restaurants, retail stores, funeral homes, warehouses, recording studios, schools, churches, library space planning and recreational facilities.
At Tozai Architecture Interiors, we assemble a project team based upon the needs of the particular project. We are a small firm that will consult with other professionals to complete the project from the schematic phase through the conclusion of the construction. This approach keeps the structure of the team fluid and is viable based on the information technologies of today.
