Royal Family
After learning that Barbara Walters aired a special on the inner workings of the royal family, I was intrigued automatically. I've always wondered how they work. After all, I did not grow up in a monarchy. All my life I've always known democracy. I knew what it meant to have a president, but certainly not a queen. I remember when I learned about the monarchy by my government teacher in high school, all that really surprised me. If I thought there is a Prime Minister, what is the royal family to serve? Are they just a tradition passed? In the past, I remembered that the queens and kings were symbols of inspiration, supposedly descendants of the gods. Is not our new era ushered in the need for symbols? Some of the things I always think when I sat down to watch the special.
