L'antica famiglia dei Marchesi De Luca di Lizzano è proprietaria del grande latifondo “Pietra della Nave” dalla fine del ‘600. I nostri terreni ulivetati si estendono per circa 100 ettari nelle campagne di Nocera Terinese, un delizioso paesino sulla splendida costa calabrese, che rappresenta una delle più grandi zone di colture monovarietali in Europa. Gran parte delle piante risalgono al 19° secolo sebbene alcune fra esse hanno qualche centinaio di anni in più. I metodi di coltivazione da noi usati rispettano l’ambiente circostante e le severe leggi della Comunità Europea. Le nostre olive monovarietali “carolea” - che sono assolutamente le uniche usate nel nostro frantoio - sono unicamente raccolte con mezzi meccanici durante i mesi autunnali, quando sono nel periodo di massima resa. Il nostro olio spicca per il suo gusto medio fruttato, con note erbacee; il sapore ben bilanciato, leggermente piccante e giustamente amaro. Se ne raccomanda l’utilizzo a crudo su minestre, verdure e carni fresche.
the ancient and noble dynasty of marquis De Luca di Lizzano has owned the grand estate “pietra della nave” since the end of the 1600s. Their magnificent olive groves are spread over a land field measuring 200 acres, located in the country side of Nocera Terinese, a lovely town on the splendid calabrian coast, known to be the largest area in europe producing olives of one variety. Indeed, the majority of the olives trees date back to the 19th century and some are even centuries older. The cultivation methods that are used to produce this oil rispect all environmental needs and comply with the strict laws of european community. The native monovarietal olives known as “carolea” – the only kind used in this mill – are harvested in the fall
when they are at their ripest stage. The resulting oil has a medium – fruity flavour with a hint of herbs. It is perfectly balanced on the palate with slightly spicy undertones and a bitter aftertaste. It is ideal for use on vegetables, meat, fish and in soups.
