Photography is something that I do for fun, but I approach it in a very professional way. When I decide on a subject that looks interesting enough to pursue I try to go into it with an open mind and keep my expectations realistic.
I've found I get a lot more out of the experience if I can enjoy the time I've had observing wildlife, or snocross, or even the marriage vows of a young couple.
My love for capturing the moment began simply enough with a trip to Isle Royale National Park in 2002 with my future wife Carrie, backpacking across the island using an old Canon Rebel SLR loaned to me by my friend and mentor Bill Dusan
In 9 years philosophies and styles have both changed, but I've always kept myself focused on what's truly important to me, which is have fun taking pictures, don't be afraid to try new things, and it's okay to make mistakes, as long as you keep on learning.
