Each painting is set in an environment that reveals the subject’s innermost wishes and anxieties. These are populated with symbolic objects, which are ‘tells’ to the individual’s idiosyncrasies. While the paintings have a surreal, dream-like, quality, what is revealed is more enduring and embedded. They are inseparable aspects of the whole person.
