Memphis Bluegrass with Cypress Creek
Two neighbors from rural Fayette County, just outside of Memphis Tennessee, guitarist, singer/songwriter Roy Jenkins and mandolinist/singer Harry McLellan, got together back in 1986 just to pick and sing a little. They enjoyed what they were doing so much that they added Tommy George, a widely-respected banjoist. Johnny McDonald, formerly with the Dixie Bluegrass Boys, agreed to join the group on upright bass and vocals. Mike Kisner, a fiddler with the old time style, was added to the group to create a classic bluegrass ensemble. The band plays public and private events in Memphis, West Memphis, North Mississippi, East Arkansas, and the general midsouth area.
