Figueroa Photographic Services
My name is Cristobal Figueroa. Most people hear my name and immediately ask where I am from. The truth is although I was born in Santiago, Chile and my extended family still lives in Chile, I have been living in the United States almost my entire life. I became interested in photography at a young age. As a small child I had a cheap 110mm camera that I would lug around and use to take photographs. I even stole my older sisters Barbies once and staged a photo shoot. I began taking photography seriously in the summer of 2000. I had graduated from Reynolds High School, and was set to begin my freshman year at Wake Forest University in the fall. I spent that summer learning black and white film processing and practicing black and white printing at the Sawtooth Center for Visual Arts in Winston-Salem, NC. My passion for photography has continued and extended itself to the Arts in general. I double majored in Studio Arts and Anthropology and graduated in 2006. Photography has opened up some amazing doors for me. In the summer of 2004, I spent time working on a National Parks funded study of the Natchez Trace. The following summer I helped found a Photography Study Abroad program in Berlin, Germany with Wake Forest University Professor John Pickel. I have sold work both in student shows, and privately. I also have had the opportunity to photograph a variety of freelance assignments over the years, covering everything from sports photography, medical photography, and people photography. I currently teach at Forsyth County Day School in Lewisville, NC. I am planning to apply for a Masters of Fine Arts program in future, with the intention to one day teach in the Photography/Digital Arts field.
BIG NEWS: I recently got married on October 10, 2009. I will be hosting a gallery for anyone who wants to send pics they took of the wedding.
