Furnace & Flame: Custom Glass by Peter Muller and Joe Peters
Furnace & Flame, contemporary, one of a kind glass sculpture and glass installations by Peter Muller and Joe Peters.
Peter Muller designs and blows contemporary glass forms using traditional furnace glass techniques. Following the cooling cycle, these forms are then cut open using a wet diamond saw. All cut surfaces are then brought back to a crystal polish using various cold working tools, before they are assembled into their final forms.
Once the blown pieces are assembled, flame artist, Joseph Peters uses an Oxy-propane torch to delicately sculpt borosilicate glass into beautiful representations of nature. Joe carefully designs each sculpture to fit within the negative spaces that have been exposed via the cold working process.
These bold pieces serve as a portal through which adults and children alike can effortlessly engage with the arts and be inspired by the limitless possibilities of the imagination.
