Under the Table is dedicated to creating original, hilarious, relevant, and accessible theatre. Their work is fueled by a commitment to the collaborative process of the ensemble and guided by their bold political and artistic opinions. They strive to deepen the relationship between audience and performer by creating living experiences that challenge the conventions of modern American theatre. Under the Table was founded in 2001 by Matt Chapman and Liz Turkel, graduates of Dell 'Arte International.

Nicole Iovanne
I draw on my own experience easily; I have an excellent memory. But my doll and puppet characters come from a murky place. In translating them, the characters become new and unfamiliar to me, but simultaneously, they are archetypes: mother, wise old man, child or star. In photographs, they exist in their own world, each loosely based on aspects of my life: family, friends and events.
I have been making dolls and puppets since 1994. I have used them in photographs and in short films. Sometimes I display the dolls themselves as the artwork. Themes that have fueled my work in the past are the grotesque and the uncanny as well as the photomontages of Dada artist, Hannah Hoch. Currently, I am focusing on connecting (through video) my recent puppets with autobiographical work I have written in response to old family photographs.

My passion to paint reflects my heart and soul. I have a desire to give meaning to lives that otherwise would walk on by and be forgotten. My paintings allow the viewer the opportunity to meet who I am and feel what I feel and see.
Barbara grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Canadian west coast in Vancouver. She comes from an artistic family who encouraged her to pursue her interests. Throughout her early life and education she developed the love of the human figure and especially faces. After raising her family in Calgary Barbara decided to return to her art and started to paint again. Her desire to express herself was influenced and fueled by Vincent van Gogh’s colourful, expressive and haunting paintings. Through watercolour she uses line and colour so others could share her experience. Recently she has begun to explore pastels and oils. Her passion is to capture a portrait.

Originally from London, England, Daniel Gomes left for Los Angeles to pursue a career in moviemaking. Having studied at one of the top grammar schools in England, he received a first class education in English Literature, Theatre Studies and Production Design. With London as his base and thanks to his loving family, Daniel was able to travel the globe from an early age, experiencing culture, history, cuisine and stories from far corners of the world. These subjects of interest, alongside a deep rooted love for film, streamlined into one clear path leading to a film school and a new chapter of life in Hollywood.
While film school offered select mentors, Daniel branched out to filmmakers of all calibers searching for insight anywhere and everywhere possible. He has worked with record labels such as Atlantic Records, Fueled by Ramen, Universal Music Group, Fierce Panda and Sony Music Entertainment. His work has been aired across Europe on various music video channels including Kerrang!, Scuzz and MTV2.
Constantly searching for his voice, Daniel is currently based out of Los Angeles, writing as well as directing music videos and commercials, working toward narrative feature films.
