In 1976 Murray and Audrey Garrett purchased the existing funeral service business from Robert and Ruth Rolufs who had operated it in Clifford for some 30 years. The business was renamed the Garrett Funeral Chapel. Extensive modifications have been completed over the years. In 1986 the Garrett Funeral Chapel at 378 Adam St in Neustadt was built to service the communities of Neustadt, Ayton and surrounding townships. Today the business consists of the two funeral chapels still under the ownership of Murray and Audrey. Murray is the managing director at the Neustadt chapel while Audrey is the managing director at the Clifford chapel. Both funeral chapels are full service establishments offering traditional, burial, cremation and memorial services to the public.
