Welcome to D.C. Decoys - Award Winning Wildfowl Carvings By David Robbins. David Robbins is an award winning wildfowl carver located on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland. His family is well known in Dorchester County for their hunting and trapping, as well as boat building and decoy making abilities. During family visits to relatives in South Dorchester, he developed a deep appreciation for the marshes and wildlife found there.David Robbin - Dorchester County Wildfowl Carver When friend Henry Fleckenstein introduced him to collecting old decoys, he fell in love with the art form. Under the guidance and friendship of local carvers Habbart Dean and Warren Saunders, David began carving decoys of his own. David has won numerous First and Best of Show ribbons at competitions around the region, including First in Species, First in Category and Third In Division at the 2008, and First in Category 2009 at the Ward World Championship Competition in Ocean City, Maryland. In addition David was the featured carver at the 2006 Blackwater Refuge Christmas Open House and guest speaker at the Dorchester County Historical / Society South Dorchester Folk Museum’s lecture series. "A New Generation Following the Old Ways" is a video featuring David giving the lecture on his family and decoy carving and is available through the Dorchester County Historical Society / South Dorchester Folk Museum.
