Vodka
Written references to Vodka date from the 15th century in Poland, but there are long histories of Vodka production across the Balkan states and Russia. At one time the word vodka could refer to an alcoholic medicine that was not necessarily drunk, but could be used for rubbing on the skin. The grain used in vodka production can vary, but rye is the most historically important and argubly the finest, but potato, wheat and beet are also used and create very subtle flavour differences.
