Welcome to Michele's Foods
When I was a child, Sundays at Grandmother's house always meant a big breakfast. And no matter what, you made sure you had homemade waffles smothered in her special honey crème. It was always a favorite of every one of her children, grandchildren, and friends. My mother inherited that secret recipe and when I married it was given to me. For years, I've been making this syrup for my own family and friends, and its delicate honey taste and rich, creamy consistency have always brought compliments and requests for more. So many people have encouraged me to market my HoneyCreme™. Now, in addition to Original HoneyCreme, there's Butter Pecan, and Maple. Delicious, exciting flavors made with the same honey crème base my grandmother perfected long ago. If she could see the business her recipe started, I think she'd be a little amazed. I also know she'd be very, very proud. Our company was established in 1984 and began distributing directly to supermarkets, food stores, and restaurants. However, the origin of Michele Foods dates back to the early 1900's when my great-grandmother created a recipe as an alternative to the limited types of syrups that were then available. The recipe, known today as Honey Crème, has been a family tradition for over four generations at family breakfasts and brunches. It was my desire to share this family delicacy with the broader market. Michele Foods has been a Chicago based company for over 19 years servicing the Jewel and Dominick's in the local market. In 1994 we expanded our Retail business nationally and are currently in all 11 divisions of Kroger, Publix, Stop and Ahop, Bi-lo Stores, famous retail chain in the south. In 1997 we began distribution to all Wal-Mart Superstores throughtout the country. In all, Michele Foods Brand Syrups are in over 10,000 grocery retail chains in the United States. In 1994, Michele Foods entered into the Foodservice market through a partnership with Denny's restaurant chain and Church's Chicken. This relationship has grown and in 1995 we won one of the largest minority contracts ever awarded by Flagstar amounting to over $3 million in annual sales for syrup products. Michele is expanding her supplier base to include a broad range of food and food related items. An important part of her repertoire is an extensive group of companies who meet preferred vendor/packer criteria. She will remain deeply involved in the food service industry. In 2004 Michele has completed a number of new and exciting challenges. To begin, a new Low Carb product line was introduced, featuring Michele's Low Carb Honey Creme, Maple Creme, and Butter Pecan Syrup as well as the Low Carb Pancake Mix and Michele's Classic Gourmet Pancake Mix. To enhance the manufacturing process, Michele Foods just recently purchased a manufacuting plant located in Cincinnati, Ohio. However, by far, Michele is most excited about completing her new book

Savinglibraries.com
The Saving Libraries oral history research project is the brain child of Carrie Gallahan, who was inspired by her grandmother, Irene Hostetler. Every time an old person dies, a library burns to the ground. Grammy has incredible mental acuity and is a treasure trove of family stories, anecdotes and history. Carrie spent hours interviewing her grandmother. The project culminated with the use of oral history as the data collection tool coupled with the creative nonfiction writing genre to fulfill the requirements of the thesis, but more importantly, she had saved her grandmothers library. The experience was empowering and satisfying, and left Carrie with a passion to save every old persons library while at the same time creating an invaluable keepsake for loved ones to keep forever.
