The Artisan StudioWorks web site exists to showcase the group of noted artists & musicians and the fruit of their collaborative and individual artistic ideas. These ideas are generated and expressed through new original visual artwork, fine art prints, sculpture, music themed jewelry, artistically designed leather products, music, photography and other creations that may have utilitarian value. The contributors currently include, Western Artist Al Shelton, Visual Artist Brian Gregory Atkin, the jeweler Brother John (Big Sur, CA.), Luther Tatum, Jerry Clovis and Greg Atkin (Inventor, musician, composer, jewelry designer, photographer and President of Strum-N-Comfort Picking Systems) A featured contributor is noted Western Artist Al Shelton. Al Shelton is known as the Cowboy Artist to the Stars. Al Shelton began his career over sixty years ago as a fine tooled leather carver for several top saddle makers in California. Included in this group is the prestigious Bohlin Company (still in business today). Over the years, Al Shelton expanded into painting and sculpting. Al Shelton was a major contractor for Hollywood based Nudie (The Rodeo Tailor). Through Nudie, Al Shelton made many leather items for major musicians and actors. One of Al Sheltons customers was Gene Autry. Many other notable people have contracted with Al Shelton to create for them. Some of these customers are Gene Autry, Ronald Reagan, Clark Gable, Sylvester Stallon, Tom Selleck, Burt Reynolds, Jackie Chan, Angie Dickinson, Dale Robertson, Ricky Nelson and many others. Currently, Al Shelton is working to complete a, one of a kind, hand tooled leather guitar cover for the Martin Guitar Company. In the fifties, Al Shelton made four leather guitar covers for television actor & musician Ricky Nelson. Finally, Al Shelton has just completed a Living History audio book that chronicles his life and rich career based in the Hollywood area. The two CD set includes guitar music played by Al, an intro by Mat Nelson and over 65 photos on an enhanced CD.
