Dedicated to the preservation, restoration and conservation of Mt. Auburn Cemetery. This most historic African American cemetery located in Baltimore, Maryland was once the only burial place for persons of color founded in 1868. One can find historic figures such as Joe Ganns, the first light heavy weight boxing champion; Lillie Carroll Jackson, civil rights activist who founded the NAACP in Baltimore; John Henry Murphy, founder of the Afro American Newspaper; freed slaves... It is still in use today by some families as a final resting place.
