PIPER Environmental Group, Inc.
Piper Environmental Group, Inc. is an ozone system integrator. We design, build, sell and rent ozone equipment for water, soil and groundwater remediation industries, food, wine, bottled water, potable water and manufacturing industries. Please browse our ozone products and services, including genrator and trailer system rental/lease options.
Piper's ozone-based products are designed in accordance with the EPA's 12 pricipals of Green Chemistry, providing environmtally friendly solutions for water treatment, sterilization and remediation projects.
Remediation of soil & groundwater contamination is commonly performed via in-situ chemical oxidation - injecting a calculated dosage of oxidants directly into the source zone and downgradient plume. Oxidants that are commonly used include ozone, hydrogen peroxide, and potassium permanganate or persulfate. Oxidant chemicals react with contaminants, producing innocuous substances such as carbon dioxide (C02), water and minerals.
Chemical oxidation offers several advantages over treatment technologies such as pump and treat, SVE, air sparging or dual-phase extraction. The processes do not generate large volumes of waste material, spent filters or water discharges that must be managed.
In-situ chemical oxidation is useful for source area mass reduction and intercepting of plumes to reduce contaminant mobility. Various oxidizers are effective for different contaminants. Applicable contaminants include chlorinated solvents, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, and petroleum products. These include PCE, TCE, vinyl chloride, and the BTEX compounds as well as naphthalenes. Oxidation is dependent on achieving adequate contact between oxidants and contaminants.
