Barry Strauss
Barry Strauss is a military historian of ancient Greece and Rome. His new book, The Spartacus War (2009) tells the real story behind the legend of the revolt by gladiators and slaves that shook Rome to its foundations and led to 6,000 crucifixions. His other books include The Battle of Salamis (2004), The Trojan War (2006), and Rowing Against the Current: On Learning to Scull at Forty (1999). He teaches at Cornell University and lives with his family in Ithaca, NY.

Its aim will be to illuminate the ancient heritage of folk poetry in the history and prehistory of human existence. Yes we aim to provide comprehensive view of the role of poetry throughout history. All societies, tribal or national , have their poetic traditions, oral and/ or written.
