中华民族，依照中华民国立国的三民主义，主要以汉族为中心主体的民族及其他民族为组成，其中蒙、藏两族之事务在中华民国宪法中有部会等级的蒙藏委员会，近年修宪后，台湾原住民及相关之多元文化民族政策入宪。依照中华人民共和国的官方定义，则共有56个民族，包括汉族和55个少数民族。尽管中华人民共和国及中华民国在相关民族政策的努力，相对少数民族或语族对大汉族主义、汉化、汉本位等仍有不同程度的批判。依三民主义民族主义第五讲的[1]，中华人民共和国的官方定义是原生论。
