The Humanitarian-FOSS Project is a research effort ,funded by the NSF CPATH program, aimed at testing the hypothesis that humanitarian free and open source software development (Humanitarian-FOSS), done within the context of a real-world problem-solving environment, can help revitalize undergraduate computing education. The Humanitarian FOSS Project is a growing community of academic computing departments, IT corporations, and local and global humanitarian and community organizations dedicated to building and using Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) to benefit humanity.

Support Yasmin!
Yasmin was selected to participate in the Global Youth Leadership Summit held by the Anthony Robbins Foundation at the University of California, San Diego in July. She has received a scholarship for airfare and accommodation, but she still needs a passport, Visa, clothing, and appropriate travel items (ie. her first suitcase).
Yasmin is a ninth grade student with the Parikrma Humanity Foundation. Parikrma is an organization in Bangalore, India that provides top quality education to children from underserved, slum areas. Yasmin will be one of the first Parikrma students to leave the country and travel the world.
