Io
Io is a Gothenburg based design studio founded in 1998. The approach at Io
is conceptual and we deal with a wide range of disciplines within the field
of design such as corporate identity, brand creation, identity development,
interactive media, materials identity, advanced design, architecture,
integrated communication, image projection, visualization and education.
Our team consists of young designers with different areas of specialisation.
The eclectic nature of the team provides us with a creative and flexible
working environment that stimulates the exchange of ideas, methodologies
and means of expression. Our focal point at Io is the creation, development
and realisation of ideas.

My recent paintings consist of a series of portraits in various fictional narrative settings. My imagery is rooted in the contemporary tradition that uses the human body as a vehicle to address autobiographical and social issues. In each painting I portray myself interacting with specific animals that have particular cultural associations. In much of my work the hen has been central to my iconography. The hen and her alternately hysterical and nurturing characteristics has been a meaningful counterpart to the rooster; a cultural symbol freighted with associations of rugged machismo and sexual bravado.
