Glenbeigh Racing Festival 2011
www.glenbeighfestival.com is the official website for The Glenbeigh Races and Festival which takes place annually on the strand in Rossbeigh Beach, Glenbeigh, County Kerry. The annual event usually takes place at the end of August and attracts huge interest in the region. Apart from the horse racing, which take place on the Saturday and Sunday afternoons, there are many other events such as a Fancy Dress Competition and fantastic nightly entertainment in the local hostelries including the Towers Hotel, the Olde Glenbeigh Hotel, The Red Fox Inn, Ashes Bar and the Ross Inn. The Opening ceremomy is held on Friday night with the inauguration of the festival Queen. There is loads of accomodation available locally which can be viewed via the links on this site. The inauguration of Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, featured a spectacular display of fireworks, sound, light water on the evening of 4 Jan 2010. The public watched the inauguration ceremony from the Waterfront Promenade adjacent to The Dubai Mall. Burj Dubai was renamed in honour of the current President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
