Filipino American Music | Poptimes Magazine - Home
Poptimesmagazine is the only source for Filipino-American Music News, it is the biggest fil-am music forum and community, it is also the home of hundreds of independent music artists, NEW YORK A week after the announcement of the Kuwagos' break up, ex-guitarist Cho Lopez issued a statement about the matter and even released a song he said he "composed and recorded after the the band's disbandment.", I am not ashamed or even embarrassed to admit it: I have been crying for days ever since learning of The Kuwagos' breakup, announced on Tuesday, May 4 on Poptimes Magazine. It's not an easy thing to deal with for a music lover like me.
It might be easy in some ways to just shrug this off and say, "These things happen. We need to move on." How many times have I told that to other grieving souls to offer solace? Countless times. But this time, it's different. This time, The Kuwagos breakup hits harder and deeper, not just into my heart, but into the heart of this Fil-Am music community., NEW YORKIn a new music video, Hip Hop recording artist Arabesque explores the plight of Filipino landed immigrants by telling the story of a young girl's trek to North America, and the struggle to find her feet.
"This is the struggle of landed immigrants and their hurdles in absorbing the country's culture and values," Arabesque said. "This is unfortunately a common tale, with work ready adults facing uphill battles."
Arabesque is scheduled to release an EP on June 1, 2010 and is very grateful to the community for all the support he received in the making of the video., NEW YORK Ivy Rose, the all-girl rock band from Maryland will launch their debut album in New York by performing with a batch of hard rocking Fil-Am bands for Poptimes Magazine's Distorted Friday 2 here in New York City.
The sensational quartet that recently opened for Weezer and Ben Folds will be joined by an equally astounding lineup made up of Qwadra, Bleud, Apriori, and Jun Fabella and The Dilettantes.
Given the caliber of the performers, this sequel to last November's fiery pilot Distorted Friday gig will surely be a summer show to remember.
The 21+ only show will be at Fontana's Bar on Friday, June 25, 2010 and will start at 8:00 PM. There will be a $10.00 door charge.
