Chad Matthew Carlson is a commercial, architectural, people and product photographer based in Brooklyn New York. His work mirrors his eye for technical perfection and his obsession with capturing a unique moment.
Carlsons fascination with the creative and technical aspects of photography began at a young age. Born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Carlson created is first stop-motion film at the age of 11. He continued to sculpt, paint, write and direct plays, and explore the world of film throughout his youth.
Carlson then attended Palomar College in San Marcos California. Inside the classroom, he explored coursework in photography, video editing, and graphic design. Outside the classroom, Carlson worked with Northcoast Photographic Services developing his darkroom, color printing, retouching, and digital printing know-how. He also attended Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara where he nurtured his love of travel and architectural photography.
An experienced retoucher and art director, Carlson has worked with myriad creative professionals, familiarizing himself with the pre-production and post-production aspects of commercial photography. This collaborative expertise and knowledge has allowed him to continue to innovate within his own work, creating stunning travel photographs, architectural work, still life, and portraiture.
Commercially, he creates clean images for clients both nationally and internationally. He has worked with Hotel Urban in Madrid, Spain, Starwood Hotels in Cincinnati, Ohio, Found You Restaurant in Lisbon, Portugal, and Thomson Naylor Architects in Santa Barbara, California to name a few. His travel photography has been featured in City Magazine, and In The Moment.
Carlson is excited to continue collaborating, evolving artistically, and creating striking commercial and editorial images.
