The Pacific War Memorial Association, Iwo Jima Memorial
The Pacific War Memorial Association is planning to construct an Iwo Jima Memorial in Hawaii at the entrance to Marine Corps Base Hawaii. This memorial depicts a moment in time - the flag raising atop Mt. Suribachi on February 23, 1945 during the Battle of Iwo Jima, immortalized by Joe Rosenthals's famous photograph. The memorial is being cast by Salvator Perrotta of Sculpture House Casting , New York, and will be dedicated in 2001.
