Welcome. My name is Harvey Chess, and for the best part of 45 years, I have trained, consulted and worked with people in the sector variously labeled as non-profit, nonprofit, or not-for-profit – take your pick, they’re one & the same. My staff experience at a federal government agency, grant making community foundation, and local nonprofit eligible to receive grants formed the basis for my subsequent training /consulting practice. The core of my efforts has involved working with those who often call themselves grant writers (a misnomer) and pursue funds as such. This has included developing proposals for the private sector where the focus is on foundation funding & corporate giving; and wading into applications for public sector funding from government grants and contracts. My work continues as sole proprietor of The FTF Group. I get to challenge what passes for conventional wisdom in resource development because people trust me to hold their best interests at heart, and respect my work.
